Non-Legal Services

Our non-legal services provide virtual consultation and customized coaching to parents.  Through individualized support, our special education consultants work with families, educators, and other professionals to ensure students with special needs are appropriately identified and supported. 

FREE INITIAL PHONE CONFERENCE

Contact us via phone or e-mail to schedule a confidential conference of up to 20 minutes. During the call, we will ask for basic background information about your situation and explain the different ways Advo-Kids can support your family.

Virtual Consulting

Virtual consulting provides parents and guardians with non-legal support and guidance in advocating for the educational needs of their children. Clients work directly with a Special Education Consultant on an as-needed basis in a remote setting to allow for flexibility while promoting consistency of services and support. 

Virtual consulting includes ongoing/as-needed support for:

  • Education records reviews, interpretation, and guidance.
  • Training for navigating special education processes and procedures.
  • Parental Rights coaching.
  • IEP and 504 Meeting preparation and planning.
  • Assistance with drafting or responding to emails and written correspondence from the school.
  • Guidance on how to resolve conflicts with a school district to avoid escalation or litigation.
  • Ongoing advocacy & personal coaching for parents of students with disabilities.
  • Assistance with making a request for an Independent Educational Evaluation (IEE) or finding an independent evaluator.

  • Analysis of information to determine if an evaluation should be requested to determine if a “disability” exists under current law and regulation.

  • On-going review and analysis of additional educational documents such as new evaluations, revised IEPs, or data from progress monitoring.

  • Phone, email, and video consultation about a revised or improved Individualized Education Plan (IEP); including the student’s Transition Plan, Behavior Intervention Plan, goals and objectives, or accommodations and modifications.

  • Assistance with developing accommodations for a 504 plan or Individualized Health Plan (IHP).

  • Assistance determining when or if you may need legal assistance

Virtual consulting excludes:
  • In-person meetings
  • Attending school meetings

 

Virtual consulting requires:
  • Zoom / Google Meet via phone or computer
  • Prepayment; $100 /hour 
  • Online payment is available

A.S.K. IEP Conference

The A.S.K IEP Conference provides parents and guardians with non-legal support and guidance for gaining a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of their child's Individualized Education Program (IEP) document. Clients meet directly with a Special Education Consultant for one hour in a virtual setting to review each section of their child's IEP and address specific questions or concerns. 

Virtual consulting includes ongoing/as-needed support for:

  • Review of current or proposed IEP document prior to meeting

  • 1-hour virtual meeting with a Special Education Consultant

  • Coaching for understanding each section of the IEP document

  • Maximizing  parental participation and input as a member of the IEP team

  • Addressing specific parental concerns regarding the content and context of the IEP document

  • Parent coaching on strategies to address IEP concerns with the school district

  • 1-page conference summary with recommendations 

A.S.K. IEP Conference excludes:
  • In-person meetings
  • Reviewing additional documents (evaluations, reports)

 

A.S.K. IEP Conference requires:
  • Zoom / Google Meet via phone or computer
  • One-Time, Flat Rate Prepayment; $195.00
